Chi, my pet, is my person and we very much need each other and we are so grateful for him.

I had years when I thought I would be always lonely. I'm incredibly lucky that I found my person and some other things as well from this list (three cats, for example). I'm sorry you live so far from me, I would totally meet up with you if you'd like.

I'm glad you found your person and your littles! That's wonderful. Reading that gives me hope. I wish we lived closer too. I'm starting to see how much I really need in person connection.

It's funny, we found each other just when both he and I had given up on finding someone. And then the cats came one by one.

Being without in person connection is hard. I remember going to the hairdresser just to get another human touching me.

If you ever come to Germany, you are welcome in my home.

I think capitalism is the primary cause of loneliness. It has created a system in which people are discouraged from making deep relationships in favor of whatever kind of competitive bullshit is needed to succeed in the corporate world. I've spent most of my life alone. Some of those years were lonely, but most were not--probably because I have my cats to keep me company.

Thank you for sharing that. Capitalism is absolutely at the root of this competitive and rugged individualism bullshit. I actually love being alone with my little one but deep loneliness is a different type of hell that I don’t know how to survive. Community feels like the way out.

Community is absolutely crucial! I haven't yet found a large community, but I am grateful that I've been able to volunteer at a cat rescue, which has allowed me to meet all kinds of other people who share my love for cats and passion for making their lives as good as possible. It took me several years, but I've made a few friends in my apartment building, too. I'm still in search of friends with whom I feel really close, but that will come.

I'm glad you've found pockets of care and comfort. I hope you find the close community of friends that you desire. I look forward to that for myself as well. And I love that you volunteer with cats, I just signed up for my first shift this weekend. :)
