I remember when I was a kid, my friends couldn't come over because of what our house was like, it was always me going to them. Heck, even my husband could only come to visit my mum after she managed to deal with the shame about the house enough.

Many of us carry so much same for reasons such as this. I can relate. My hope my is that we’re able to put down the past shame that doesn’t belong to us and live fully expressed lives. Thank you for sharing, Beáta.

Being vulnerable with people we know and who know us is hard AF. Is being vulnerable with people we don't know/who don't know us harder or easier? Having spent countless hours in Clubhouse rooms during a jobless year (yep, 2020), I often found it easier to let down my guard with strangers, some of whom I came to know and trust. I have deep respect and appreciation for your work, Robin. Sadly, that doesn't pay the bills, eh? (a little Canadian humor on this chilly January afternoon). Thank you for sharing your words with us.

I remember those Clubhouse days! Now that you mention that, it was actually easier for me to share there too. I feel as though I know you some of you all here which can make it hard sometimes. And ha, while it doesn't pay the bills, I always appreciate kind and encouraging words. :) Thank you for that, Kristin.

Hi Robin, we have a very similar story and I appreciate your vulnerability about relationships. I feel exactly the same and I've always felt shame about not having any close relationships in my life due to the poverty I experienced growing up as well. I hope we can stay in touch.
