So, advice on Mexico (Latin America in general.) I took a job in Colombia and lived there for four years. I met many African American peeps who LOVED it because it was so chill and there was less overt racism. BUT, there is still economic racism (not what you wanted to hear, but it's true), and in Mexico, your privilege will be that you are "American," however, this means you need to be careful, especially as a woman. One thing I learned is that all over Latin America, they think us American women are "loose" and "looking for it," and that if we live out of our home country, we're rich and can spend TONS of money on them. Yes, I lived like a queen and came home with money in the bank for the first time in my life, but the machismo culture, I could do without. So, just be aware, do your research, and keep your eyes open. I am sure it will be a great relaxing and "leveling" experience for you, for certain.
The part when they say "It's just..." is such a gut punch every single time. As for the thoughts on Mexico, thank you for the info! Unfortunately I know all too well that anti-Blackness is global. And yet, whatever flavor of racism awaits me in Mexico, I welcome it over what I'm experiencing now. And ha, I've heard that from friends about the machismo part. Can't say I'm quite ready for that but I'll learn. I completely believe this'll be the reset and level up my life needs too.

I cannot imagine what you are experiencing now...because as a white woman, my heart hurts and I am afraid for the state of our country, and I've been a victim of police violence and sexual assault and it's playing out in front of my eyes in our universities and I want to leave the country too. God bless!
I sincerely want anyone with humanity to leave because it’s about to get even worse. 😭I’m so sorry you’ve experienced that. This place is terrible. I don’t think I know one person who hasn’t been adversely impacted in one way or another. We deserve better. Stay safe out there!
