What a beautiful photo. I hate what the world did to your mother, but I'm glad for you that you've been able to make sense of and peace with it. You deserve all the happiness she didn't get to experience, and I would bet my life that wherever your mom is, she agrees with me.

I love this comment so much, thank you Lawri. I fight the way I do for my own happiness because this is for her too. I have no doubt she agrees with you, this is for us both.

I totally agree. Suffering aside, I’m sure your mom would be so happy that you didn’t have to go through what she went through. And the best gift she could hope for from you would be that empathy and understanding that you now feel for her. I tell you because as a mom of four, that’s the best gift I have received from them. Once they were able to separate themselves from the situation, they came to fully realize my actions and agreed that I had been very brave and a great example to them. What else can a mother hope for but the love and respect of her children?

This made me cry as I don't have the best relationship with my mother. I had thought about writing a letter to my father since he passed as there are still moments that I wish he were here, and yet not. Thank you for being vulnerable, sharing another piece of yourself with the world.

Sending you love, MJ. I’ve written several letters over the years and they’ve helped me accept life as it is with certain folks. Thank you for sharing this space with me.
