Please Care For Creators

(Especially Black Women)

Often I can’t find the words to express how I feel. My phenomenal friend found them for me. Please take a moment to sit with what they wrote so beautifully. 

“Behind every piece of content is the creator of that content.

And not only is it the creator, but the creator's heart and soul and livelihood.

Social media makes it so easy for us to consume content - so much so that we don't know where it came from or truly what it's about.

But when we go through the process of decolonizing our minds to go along with our inherent need to decolonize our lives, knowing what we consume and where it comes from is essential.

Did you know that Robin Divine has been one of the first people on this platform to teach us about Community with a Capital C?  And from there, you can feel and read the ripples of her influence amongst the heaviest of LinkedIn hitters.  Yet, Robin doesn't have a lot to show for it.  

The typical office job pays you for your work, while writers and creators are oftentimes merely consumed.
